Greetings,
I will be attending the USS Power DD-839 Association's 15th Annual Reunion on June 25th through June 28th, in Worcester. I will also be attending the Ceremony & Honors being rendered to our ship's name sake, Lt. John V. Power - USMC, on Sunday 6/26/11. I'm looking for a little more information on this function. Such as who will be attending - besides the members of the Marine Corp League & the USS Power Association. Is it open to the public, etc.
The Power was a good ship that render thirty-two years of service to our country. I was ship's company from May 1968 to October 1969. During that time she did a WestPac deployment- 7th Fleet - Vietnam & Tonkin Gulf. She was sold to the Republic of China (Taiwan) in 1977. She was decommissioned in 2005 and will possibly be made into a museum ship, in that country.
